Open Access Week is an opportunity to learn more about Open Access publishing and take part in events worldwide. Many users of the Old Bailey Online and London Lives websites do not have the luxury of being affiliated to universities which can afford expensive journal and online resource subscriptions. The principle of Open Access is that research and scholarship (which is often publicly funded) should be freely available to the public. We are deeply committed to that principle.
